Alex Benton joins Actuation Lab as Graduate R&D Engineer

Last month we were delighted to welcome our newest engineer, Alex Benton to the Actuation Lab team. He is taking on a role of Research and Development Engineer, having recently completed his Masters in Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Cambridge. He also arrives fresh-faced from 10,000 miles of globe travelling on his bicycle, an experience which only strengthened his passion for using novel technology to promote industrial and societal sustainability.

His academic course brings broad new knowledge to the company – from manufacturing design, to production systems, to technology and business scale-up, while his year-long placement at an engineering design consultancy equips him with the experience to seamlessly blend with the modern engineering practices at Actuation Lab, and accelerate the process of getting our first certified products into customer’s hands.

Alex will also be part of the team that will operate our new CNC mill and lathe, which arrive in late February. We would’ve liked to have handed him a shiny new 5-Axis Hurco CNC Mill to welcome him to the company, but for now, this large torque wrench will have to do.

Meet the rest of our growing team of innovators and advisors.
